Bronsyn Got a New Accessory

NG tube was placed yesterday and feeding started around midnight. It will be a constant feed until we can get him up to normal rate.

This kid amazes us with every obstacle. The procedure was done while he was awake and the tube goes through his nose-throat-down to his stomach. He is embarrassed by the tube so we added a fun bandage to bring some joy.

We are still admitted at Riley but feel like we are turning the corner as he continues to fight.

Didn’t Get the Suite Again….

Bronsyn was admitted to Riley yesterday. Fever and he is neutropenic. Got both blood and platelet transfusions last night, on multiple antibiotics and fluids. Hoping his levels come up quickly and we are not here long.

PT is the new PE Class

Bronsyn had his first PT outpatient apt today at Riley. He will be going now 1x a week to work on his core, hips, and flexers. Chemotherapy has weakened his muscles so these exercises will help improve his coordination and balance. Hate that we have to drive to Riley an extra day during the week BUT thankful we can help him become stronger.

Annabelle took the afternoon off to go with us. That brought us JOY!

Bronsyn got the Deluxe Package Today

Spinal tap ✔️

Blood infusion ✔️

Platelet infusion ✔️

Chemo ✔️

Long day of treatment and everyone is worried about him continuing to lose weight. Between the pancreatitis pain and the vomitting he just doesn’t eat much and what he does eat comes back out. We will continue to work on this with more nausea meds and nutrient shakes so that he doesn’t have to get an NG tube put in (we got the run down about what that was and no thank you.)

Next Thursday is more chemo but also another ultrasound to check on his pancreas. Fingers crossed it’s healing.

PTSD

Not gonna lie……we were all a little nervous heading to Riley today in fear of being admitted again.

How will his levels be? Will he spike a fever? Is it bad he has lost 5 pounds in a week from not eating much? How will he react to being put under for the spinal tap? All these questions run through your mind EVERY WEEK but coming off a month from being inpatient makes it hit harder.

Thankfully, he did well today. Spinal tap, chemo, chest x-ray, chemo and meds refilled for the week and headed home.

Be back to Riley next Thursday but until then it’s home sweet home.

🧡 1 Month Admitted at Riley 🧡

Bronsyn got admitted on August 13th (First Day of School) for having a fever and being neutropenic. One week later-when we thought we were going home-his severe pain lead to us finding out he got pancreatitis from one of his Chemotherapy’s. The tail of his pancreas is now dead (the size of a baseball) and he will no longer receive that specific chemo.

29 days…..he got an MRI, 2 cat scans , Ultrasounds, 2 blood transfusions, 3 IV’s in his arm at one time,

TPN for days, chemo and too many medications to name. We missed so many moments this month like moving Brody to college, Annabelle’s many volleyball games, important weddings and showers, and Brody’s first college scrimmage. Danny went to as much as he could while I stayed with Bronsyn. We are very thankful to the family and friends that supported our kids and understood why we were absent.

Things that brought Bronsyn joy were seeing family, playing TV Bingo, therapy dogs and a bike from PT he could ride around the unit.

We have a mix of emotions as we leave today: Joy to be going home, gratitude to the medical staff that we got to know this month, scared for the future and more complications that might happen, humbled after meeting all the cancer children and families this month, and appreciative of all the support from family and friends. We still have a long road but continue to fight.

Update As Of 9/7/2026

Currently he is battling an almost 30 day inpatient stay for being neutropenic and developing pancreatitis from a current chemo that caused an allergic reaction with Bronsyn’s body. Further chemo and medications are continuing as planned. This is just the start to his long journey. Your continued Prayers and Support are very appreciated!
